What’s Self-Esteem Anyway?

 

Psychology defines self-esteem as a person’s overall sense of self-worth or personal value. The concept of high self-esteem has somehow been portrayed as a negative thing. In male culture, it’s hardly even a forethought, in female culture you’re looked at as being “stuck up” if you exude any ounce of self-confidence. It seems that society has ran from the concept of self-esteem actually being a positive thing.

I wonder, what would happen if we change the stigma of self-esteem? What if we made people believe that it’s quite okay to think highly of themselves? What if we told our counterparts, that the sky really is the limit rather than telling them they should always play it safe and color within the lines.

The concept of having high self-esteem should be taught to everyone. Self-esteem helps us to achieve the goals we so earnestly seek  after. It allows us to live more fulfilled and confident lives.

Everyone talks about wanting to be successful and wanting to live their best life. However, few people ever really reach this milestone. Often times, this is a direct result of a lack of faith, fear and low self-esteem.

So how do we begin to get people on board with adjusting their attitudes about self-esteem?

 

Through education of course!!! We can reach more people with action than we ever will by just talking. This is why our organization chooses to do programs on mindfulness, goal setting, and finances. We educate our community on what it takes to increase self-esteem. Throughout the upcoming weeks and months we will release more informative blogs on ways to increase self-esteem.
